Welcome to the new school year!  Wa>tkunuhela=t& (I greet you)

Yako>tuny%tsli=yo n$=y&kyats okhale On^yote>a.k@ ni.i (She is a Good Eagle is my name and I am Oneida Standing Stone).  My English name is Dr. Renee Pfaller.  I am honored to be returning for my 4th year as your Oneida Language, History and Culture Teacher here at the Indian Community School.

I am an enrolled member of the Oneida Nation of Wisconsin, Turtle Clan and originally from Milwaukee. My family is Elm, Powless and Huff. As an Ukwehu.we person, I also teach Oneida Language at the Southeastern Oneida Tribal Services (SEOTS) center in Milwaukee on Tuesday evenings. I am a graduate of Marquette University and Edgewood College in Madison.

My passion lies in working with Native children and teaching the Oneida Language, History and Culture. My primary teachers’ were Maria Hinton as I worked at the Turtle School in Oneida along with Laura Cornelius, Randy Cornelius and Inez Thomas from the Language House in Oneida, WI.

New this year to our program is Iroquois Social Dance Music. Be supportive and give lots of encouragement. Have fun with the new words that your child is sharing with you. I will be giving assignments occasionally on our classroom website. Check out the Oneida Nation.org language site and enjoy the Oneida Nation Language videos on You-tube.

Some exciting news that will enhance your child's progress is the NEW Oneida Language App.  It can now be downloaded onto Android and Apple products such as phones and tablets. It is avialable from "the Play Store" or "the App Store".  A FREE download, simply search for SPEAK ONEIDA, Part 1, by the Thornton Media, Inc.
