Indian Community School Food Service Department

"Eat 5 or more servings of fruits and vegetables every day for better health" is a simple and easy message that we should all follow. Eating fruits and vegetables can improve our health and reduce the risk of cancer and other diseases, including heart disease, hypertension and diabetes.

It is important to help our children get started in the right direction for establishing healthy eating habits; this includes the introduction to different fruits and vegetables prepared in different combinations and varieties.

Try some favorite food combinations with your children at home...

  • Serve a fruit or vegetable as a snack each day
  • Make fruits and vegetables visible within the home
  • Pile different combinations of vegetables on pizza or other favorite foods
  • Add strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and other brightly colored fruits to waffles, toast or cereal
  • Stir fresh or frozen vegetables into pasta, noodles or omelets

Sincerely,
Natalia Woehl, M.ed.RD. CD.
